Rose Festigia – Dry Red Wine

Premium wine with controlled origin – ZOI Hrvatska Istra

Vineyards: Sourced from the western coast of Istria, an area renowned for its exceptional conditions for vine cultivation. The vineyards in Funtana, Vrsar, Kaštelir, and Novigrad are planted on the characteristic Istrian red soil (terra rossa), rich in minerals and highly favorable for grape varieties. The vines were planted between 2004 and 2006, benefiting from an ideal combination of sunlight and maritime influences.

Grape Varieties: A carefully balanced blend of Teran, Borgonja, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Each variety contributes unique characteristics:

– Teran – brings freshness and vibrant acidity

– Borgonja – adds fruity aromas

– Carmenere – enhances the wine with spicy notes

– Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc – provide structure and firm tannins

– Merlot – softens and rounds out the wine, ensuring a harmonious and rich profile

Harvest: Mid-September, at peak ripeness for optimal balance and flavor concentration.

Vinification: Each grape variety is vinified separately under controlled conditions to preserve its specific aromatic profile. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures (12°C), with an emphasis on cold fermentation to retain the wine’s fresh and fruity characteristics. This process enhances the expressive fruitiness and refreshing nature of the wine, while developing an elegant aromatic complexity.

Aging: After fermentation, the wine is enriched by aging on fine lees from Malvasia, which contributes to its creamy texture and roundness. Additionally, 15% of the wine is aged for four months in 225L barrique barrels, introducing subtle notes of vanilla, spice, and delicate woody aromas, adding depth and complexity.

Aging Potential: Ready for immediate consumption, but also suitable for further aging. Its freshness and structure ensure optimal enjoyment for 1-2 years, while maintaining its exceptional character.

Tasting Notes: Rose Festigia immediately captivates with its intense red fruit aromas, featuring delicate hints of strawberries and raspberries wrapped in subtle spicy undertones. On the palate, it radiates freshness, beautifully balanced with richness and refined structure, thanks to barrique aging. A slight creaminess from lees aging gives the wine a smooth, rounded finish, leaving a lasting impression.
