Darnekuša is a wine produced from the homonymous rare autochthonous variety from the Island of Hvar. It is special because it is only growing on the top of the Hvar Island, 580 m above the sea (it is probably the topmost vineyards in all Croatia) with a continental climate. Unlike Plavac Mali, the color of the wine comes from the “meat” of the grape (ruby color) not the skin. Wine has a unique aroma and a surprisingly fresh taste. Before bottling, wine lays out a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels and partially in stainless steel tanks.
It is recommended to serve at a temperature from 14 – 16° C with meals of meat and bluefish.
