It shows deep violet colour.
Intense on the nose with plenty of ripe black cherries, dried prunes and dark chocolate all speaking of very ripe grapes.
Bit of smoke and oak to add complexity.
Dry on the palate, medium bodied with good tannic grip, evident acidity levels and plenty of black fruits on the palate with hints of jam as well.
Quite a different style than 2017 which was leaner and fruitier, this one shows a bit more opulence and ripeness with slightly more evident oak touch.
Needs time to open.
This is a perfect companion with grilled meet, pasta hard and soft cheeses, even blue fish, as tannins are on the lower side.
Then again, it is rather universal food companion and can be server to a wide variety of dishes.
